Liam McLaughlin is licensed to practice law in the states of New York and Connecticut. He is also the Minority Leader of the Yonkers City Council, having been elected to serve four terms. Mr. McLaughlin is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, (currently inactive), and was an adjunct professor at Manhattan College. As a Councilman, Mr. McLaughlin is charged with setting the budget for the fourth largest City in the State, drafting and passing laws, leading extensive environmental reviews of large and small development projects in the City pursuant to the State Environmental Quality Review Act, (SEQRA), and working to resolve various constituent matters.
Mr. McLaughlin began his professional career as a public accountant with the firm of Ernst and Young. He was recruited out of college and worked in the firm’s financial services and tax divisions. In addition to preparing tax returns for high net worth individuals, Mr. McLaughlin worked on some of Ernst & Young’s most prestigious clients, including banks, brokerage firms and mutual funds.
After graduating from New York Law School in 1996, Mr. McLaughlin went to work for a small general practice law firm in Brooklyn, New York. In 1998, Mr. McLaughlin joined the Corporation Counsel’s office of the City of Yonkers, where he focused on defense litigation and real estate matters. After getting elected to the Yonkers City Council, Mr. McLaughlin opened his own general practice law firm where he specialized in Real Estate, Corporate Transactional and Estate Planning Law.
As a Senior Associate with Bashian & Farber, Mr. McLaughlin will concentrate in the areas of Trusts & Estates, Estate Litigation, Guardianships, Guardianship Litigation, Elder Law, Corporate and Real Estate Law.
